Not many things come as close to being a warm hug more than a turmeric latte. Turmeric is an unsung hero in many dishes, being praised for its anti-inflammatory benefits and strong earthy flavours. It’s finally finding itself into our everyday diets, and we couldn’t be happier!
Otherwise known as golden milk, turmeric lattes are popping up in more and more of our favourite cafes, but this warming drink can also be made from the comfort of your own kitchen!
Here are two simple examples of delicious turmeric latte recipes for you to try!
Turmeric Latte
Serves 2
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 3 cups milk (coconut, soy, almond or dairy)
- 1 heaped teaspoon ground turmeric
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 star anise
- 2 cardamom pods
- 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup, rice syrup or coconut sugar)
Method
- Place all ingredients in a saucepan and place over a low heat.
- Let milk mixture come to a very light simmer and remove from heat.
- Serve immediately.
Turmeric Matcha Latte
Serves 1
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 heaped tsp Turmeric Matcha: Zen Green Matcha Tea
- 1 cup of any milk you choose (dairy, soy, coconut, almond) – we love coconut!
- 1 tbs hot water
- If you would like a sweeter option, try adding honey
Method
- Heat your milk in a microwave or small pan.
- Whisk until frothy.
- While the milk is heating, mix a tablespoon of hot water with the Turmeric Matcha. Keep mixing until the powder is dissolved.
- Pour the frothy milk into the turmeric matcha paste and stir slowly, careful not to stir away all the lovely frothiness!
- Add in the sweetener if you’d like a little extra burst.
- Dust with cinnamon and enjoy the warming, earthy flavours!
