1. ACV shot in the AM
Get that digestion going quick smart. You’ve been chugging down christmas ham and even fit in seconds of berry trifle, your digestion is sluggish and it’s been working over time. Reward your digestive juices by mixing one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in 100mLs of water – it’s important you dilute it, otherwise you’ll risk that burny feeling on your insides, not mention an acidic taste of straight vinegar.
2. Hydrate
If we could bang on about it all day on our soapbox, you can bet your activated nuts we would! Give your body 6-8 glasses of water, extra if you are traveling by plane and an extra 200mL each hour of exercise. Get some coconut water into the mix to replace those electrolytes or make your own vitamin water. Read up on detoxing and hydration in our eBook.
3. Oil Pull
A traditional Hindu ritual that isn’t necessarily scientifically tested, however, has loads of anecdotal evidence and positive testimonials. You literally swish a tablespoon of oil in your mouth in the morning for twenty minutes and it boasts to work as a natural cleanser with a powerful ‘pulling’ detox effect. You can use most oils, but coconut oil is our first choice as it’s easy on the palate.
4. Sweat
Good things come to those who sweat! Perspiring is one of the natural way the body detoxifies. Having a good sweat session will expel toxins and cleanse the system. Sweat it out in this HIIT workout and this 2 minute festive workout by Lizzie Williamson.
5. Dry body brush
#LOVEYOURLYMPH! Dry body or ‘skin brushing’ is a great way to assist your lymphatic system detoxification. Not only does the brushing get rid of dead skin on the outside, the movement encourages your lymph (the fluid that circulates through the lymphatic system) on the inside to move through your body and filter bacteria and other foreign material.
6. Breathe
Don’t forget to breathe. Exhaling is yet another way to naturally detoxify your body through your lovely lungs and also spur on relaxation. Take deep breaths outside in nature through your nose. Try controlled breathing by meditating, and take this time to be present.
7. Stretch
When was the last time you really got bendy? Reset your whole body by making sure you always stretch after a good session of training. When you work out, your muscles contract and stretching helps to relax and release them back into balance. If you don’t take the time to stretch, it can create an imbalance and tension throughout the body. Welcome in the flow of good energy and #GETBENDY
