It’s hard to ignore the siren call of those sweet sweet strawberries that lure you in at the farmers markets, especially with the two-for-one for deals going at the moment (how could you possibly say no?) If you’re anything like us and leave with boxes full of the sprightly spring fruit, why not mix it up – literally – and throw some into a delicious on-the-go morning smoothie (because weekdays are really busy you guys) or alternatively, opt for a yummy post workout treat! We did the hard yards for you (tough gig right) and spiced up this delicious AM smoothie with some cinnamon, packed it with protein and sweetened it with mesquite – everything you need to start a bright, sunshiny day ?
Spiced Strawberry Morning Smoothie
Serves: 1 prep and blend time: 2 minutes
Ingredients:
- 4 strawberries, sliced, with tops taken off: 2 for the smoothie and 2 extra, for strawberry ring (optional)
- 1/4 cup of oats
- 1 cup almond mylk (or milk of choice)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tsp mesquite powder
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp maca powder
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 1 tsp shredded coconut
- 1 cup ice
Method:
Add all ingredients to a high speed blender such as a vitamix and pulse until all ingredients are smooth and creamy. Pour into a jar half way. Grab your extra slices of strawberry, and place them on top of the smoothie mixture, around the jar so that they stick to the glass. Pour in the rest of your smoothie and garnish with coconut and cinnamon. Serve Immediately.
