How often do you wake up and workout JUST to experience that endorphin high that you euphorically get to ride on for the rest of the day? I’m definitely addicted to this feeling, and consequently morning workouts are something I do a minimum of 3 mornings a week. Second question… how often do those euphoric feelings you’ve worked so hard for get lost and completely overshadowed in the hectic haze of morning drama that ensues when you’re running behind schedule? I know this feeling all too well, but neither my morning workout, nor my job are things I’m willing to sacrifice, so I’ve found a way to make both work.
Here’s how you can exercise in the morning and still be on time:
I know you’ve heard it a million times before, and I probably sound like a broken record (hopefully a Beatles record… aka still relevant), but I cannot stress the importance of picking your outfit the night before. On a weekday morning, every.minute.counts and getting sweaty, showered, fed, dressed and out the door is indeed a race against the clock. Taking 5-minutes the night before to find the outfit you want to wear as well as the appropriate underwear and accessories to go with it, will not only save you time, but will help you steer clear of the turmoil that comes from a morning tantrum.
If you fancy yourself somewhat of a Michelin Star rated chef and are partial to whipping up extravagant meals in the morning, firstly – kudos to you… you’ve put my maca and protein oats to serious shame. But on the days you also want to squeeze in a workout, something’s gotta’ give! Keeping it simple doesn’t mean keeping it boring. Here are some of our favourite quick and simple breakfast recipes. Lazy Girls Green Frittata, 2-minute mug cake, or you could even prep something the night before like a batch delicious baked oatmeal!
While winged eye-liner and conical curls are skills that deserve to be flaunted, some days you just don’t have the time. You can still look #totesamaze, just pull out some of the best time saving tricks like dry shampoo (because updo’s look better on dirty hair), tinted moisturiser (because fresh looking dewy skin is always in) and a good old faithful nude lip (because it’s easy to apply, easy to maintain and it goes with everything).
Last week, a car literally burst into flames as I was pulling into the gym car par, a dramatic turn of events that resulted in traffic congestion that was so standstill, no amount of meal prepping and outfit planning could have saved my punctuality. My point? Life happens, and there are always going to be things that happen that are completely out of your control, but for the most part, a little bit of preparation goes a long way.
