You’ve probably noticed over the last few weeks that we’ve been featuring some incredible women as our campaign Role Models. Women who are following their passion. Women who inspire us!
So, I thought I’d fill you in on why. Why this is important to me as a woman and why this is important to Lorna Jane as a brand.
At Lorna Jane we want to celebrate women and their stories and share the message that, as women, we are so much more than first impressions. And how important it is that we should not judge others or allow ourselves to be judged or limited by what we do on a single day or what we look like!
We are mothers, daughters, sisters and wives, we are individuals with different drivers, passions and goals. We are complex and original and there is so more to us than meets the eye. We are more than our job, we are more than our gender. And when we recognise this in ourselves and others, we will become unstoppable!
This month I’m so excited to be featuring someone who has inspired me for so long. Someone who is a shining example of authenticity, grace and style. A woman who is beautiful inside and out and can inspire you simply by how she thinks and moves through her own life.
Her passion for gut health and inner beauty is contagious and not only is she a Lorna Jane Role Model and True Believer, but I’m also fortunate enough to call her my friend. The one and only Carla Oates, but you probably know her as The Beauty Chef.
Carla first learned about the connection between gut health and healthy skin as a teenager. Suffering from skin problems her mother took her to a Naturopath who adjusted Carla’s diet, which resulted in her skin becoming clear and healthy. This is when Carla began to recognise the power of what she was eating and the impact it could have on her health.
Beginning her career as a writer and fashion stylist, Carla’s interest turned to beauty writing. But she soon became concerned about the alarming number of chemicals and synthetics being used in commercial products, and the lack of transparency in the industry. She began writing about natural alternatives for beauty and started making her own natural skin care products.
Later, when Carla’s daughter began suffering from skin troubles she put her whole family on a gut-healing protocol and found that not only were they all feeling healthier, but friends were commenting on her new-found ‘glowy’ skin. This led to Carla lacto-fermenting foods in her kitchen and to the creation of her first inner beauty product, GLOW.
Now, two books and multiple award-winning products later Carla’s star keeps rising as she continues to focus on sharing her passion for gut health and its connection to overall health and wellbeing with the world.
I am so proud of Carla and all of the other women we have featured in our #morethanawoman series. And I see this as just the beginning, because there are so many incredible women out there and sharing their stories is my way of showing you what we ALL can achieve when we begin to recognise and embrace our passions, when we stop comparing ourselves to others and when we make the decision to focus on our goals.
I want all women to think of themselves as more than a woman and I am so very grateful to all of you for giving me a platform and being part of a community that openly supports and acknowledges women and the incredible work they are doing in the world. I hope by sharing the stories of these women that it inspires you to step into your power, follow your dreams and never never never give up.
Is there a woman that inspires you? Share her story xx
Love, Lorna x
