There is a lot of external pressure to “bounce back” post baby. At our fingertips we can glance into the lives of millions of women all over the world.
It can be great, and reassuring at times, but it can also leave us feeling as though we are less if our body hasn’t recovered from childbirth as quickly as others.
A lot of women are eager to start working on their postpartum shape, and I understand it is nice to feel as though you can return to your normal regime but I promise you, despite the days feeling very long at times, the newborn weeks do fly by.
When you have a newborn, it is not the time to start a restrictive diet, regime or challenge. Your body needs time to repair, recover and adjust. Hormones take time to level out and return to a normal range. It is the time to ensure you are eating lots of good quality, nutrient dense, food, resting and soaking up as much skin on skin time as possible.
The key to mastering your mum body and loving yourself is your mindset. We all have an internal dialogue, all day thoughts come and go. We have the power to challenge thoughts that don’t serve us and replace them with ones that do.
In order to do this, we must first become aware of that inner voice, I always refer to it as a “soundtrack”. The soundtrack of our life! Notice how you speak to yourself and the beliefs you are creating. Every minute is a chance to change it up and create the life you want.
Please do not wait until you are a certain size, weight or body shape before you live your life. So many mothers have shared with me that they avoid the beach with their kids, or climbing onto playgrounds because they are worried about how their body looks to others. This breaks my heart, and the worst thing is if you are doing this to yourself you are subconsciously telling yourself you are not worthy, which breeds a negative mindset.
You are worthy!
Live like it, act like it and I bet the more you choose to live and love, the more you will love yourself. Guess what happens when you go towards self-care and love? Your body falls into place naturally because when you love yourself wholeheartedly your body naturally responds.
Love yourself because you are amazing xx
Kylie developed fully comprehensive online courses to help mums, dads, carers and babies everywhere to sleep well, easily and consistently.
“Helping families sleep is my passion, I studied, volunteered, obtained my certification and began building my sleep consultancy business. I believe The Sleep Mama program is life changing, it is extensive and detailed. It is NOT an extreme sleep training program based on the cry it out approach. It is realistic, nurture based and focused on your baby’s needs just as much as your own. If you’re tired, odds are your baby is too.
Don’t waste another day feeling helpless or anxious. Don’t let sleep deprivation define you as a mother – take the time to give your baby one of the best gifts you can, the skill of good sleep.”
