escapism
ɪˈskeɪpɪz(ə)m,ɛ-/
noun
the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy.
To travel is to live. To live is to feel. To feel is everything – and what better feeling than that of escape?
When talking about escape, we’re not necessarily referring to a holiday. We’re talking about the notion and practice of escapism. Of course, a holiday is a wonderful way to achieve this, but what is perhaps just as important is finding ways to practice small moments of escape on a daily basis. Yoga for mindfulness. Essential oils for a sensory retreat. Exotic spices for a different flavour hit. The possibilities are endless!
Seeing as a good holiday induces that feeling of escape, our campaign team decided to head to Chandra Bali Villas for our June/ July collection shoot to really evoke that getaway feeling.
Along the way, our team discovered that Bali is the perfect place for a little Move, Nourish, Believe…
MOVE:
From paddle boarding to deep sea diving, surfing or hiking – Bali has it all! The lush greenery and beautiful beaches really set the tone for that feeling of escape. Our team stayed at Chandra Bali Villas where meditation and yoga was offered every morning. They literally come to your villa so there is no excuse to skip a class!
NOURISH:
Bali is HOT so hydration is key. Coconut water and smoothie bowls were the way to go in an effort to stay nourished and keep the fluids up. Alchemy Café became a daily pit-stop for their raw, organic goods, and the fruits were luscious and amazing!
BELIEVE:
The perfect holiday is all about balance and rediscovering your centre. Chandra Bali Villas was the perfect place to hit refresh and reinvigorate. Yoga and meditation are some of the best ways to achieve this balance. Namaste all the way.
This idea of escape was an integral part of our campaign and product design for the season. As Lorna so aptly puts it – instead of living in endless need of a holiday, the best habit to put into practice is building a life that you don’t need to escape from, but can find escape within.
So, what’s your best escape?
