Move, Nourish and Believe are the pillars that help guide women to live their best, most active life. We strive to move our body every day, nourish from the inside out and believe that anything is possible. Whilst we live and breathe these values, we cannot forget our purpose underlying these words… that is to ultimately love ourselves more. Ladies, it’s time to open your hearts and exercise your self-love muscle!
Think of all the time we put into exercising our physiques, and nourishing our bodies with amazing, nutritious foods. What if we put that same amount of time and energy into exercising our self-love muscle? Which, may I add is equally, if not more important than a nice set of abs.
Strengthening your self-love muscle is about loving within yourself, which then leads you to freely and genuinely give love for all. The ultimate task throughout your life long self-loving journey is not to seek for love but to discover all the barriers that you have built against love, and tear down those floodgates!
So, if you’re scratching that pretty little head of yours wondering… ‘How you can I get that self-love muscle in motion?’ Well, here are a few exercises that can let that inner love shine on through…
1. Do things for yourself
We are happiest when we are doing the things we love right? Those special moments when we are free from all worry and stress. Somewhere we can just BE and get in touch with our emotions. Treating yourself to the little things in life that make you happy can amplify your self-love muscle considerably. If reaching for that favourite book on the weekend or parking your fine self on the beach to relax is what gives you that ‘ahhhhh’ feeling…then go ahead and do it. Don’t be afraid to pass on things you don’t want to do, you have only one person to please – and that my friend is YOU.
2. Quit knit picking
Do you ever look in the mirror and pick out all the things you don’t like? Don’t deny it; we are all guilty of it. Why not, try to look at yourself as a whole, not as separate body parts. Beauty begins from the inside, and from self-forgiveness comes contentment. If you love yourself unconditionally, you will reward your body by taking the best care of it as you possibly can. When you show your body love, it will love you right back.

3. Stop comparing
There is only one you…that is truer than true. Don’t waste your days comparing yourself to others when you can be busy working on yourself. Remember that comparison is the thief of joy, don’t waste that precious life of yours comparing, you’re better than that. Remember, YOU. ARE. AMAZING – SING it with me now!
4. Use mantra’s and quotes to INSPIRE you daily
Be inspired by words that uplift you, and affirm to yourself daily the things in life that you love.
“Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.”
– Veronica A. Shoffstall
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
-Budha
5. KNOW YOUR TRUTHS
It does not matter what age you are, or what circumstance you are in… you are not defined by anything but your own truths and they should be the sorts of truths like:
- Knowing you are one of a kind… there is not one person quite like you!
- Knowing you are special and have talents and gifts in an arrangement that sets you apart and makes you, you!
- Knowing you still have something unique to offer
- Knowing that every day you are still absorbing oxygen into your lungs.
Learning to work your “self-love muscle” is the greatest exercise one can do. With a little groundwork, you will begin to see the results shine from the inside out, and in turn making you a happier, more pleasant person that people will gravitate towards.
There is no short cut in making your self-love muscle durable, healthy, fit and toned…. because just like physical exercise you have to continue the maintenance if you want constant desired results. Oscar Wilde puts it perfectly in saying that….
“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance”.
So, enjoy the wonderful journey of falling in love with yourself (as corny as it sounds) and make it EXCITING. Don’t conform to mediocrity; you have one life to live, why not make it the best you can, by being the best you person you can possibly be.
Some encouraging & inspire quote on ‘Loving Thy Self’:
“A gold medal is a nice thing – but if you’re not enough without it, you’ll never be enough with it.”
– From Cool Runnings
“There is no mistaking love. You feel it in your heart. It is the common fibre of life, the flame that heats our soul, energises our spirit, and supplies passion to our lives.”
– Elisabeth Kubler Ross
“The love you seek is seeking you at this moment.”
– Deepak Chopra
“You cannot be lonely if you like the person you’re alone with.”
– Wayne Dyer
“Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we have learned here. The spiritual journey is the relinquishment – or unlearning – of fear and the acceptance of love back into our hearts. Love is…our ultimate reality and our purpose on earth. To be consciously aware of it, to experience love in ourselves and others, is the meaning of life.”
– Marianne Williamson
