Monday Motivation: Entering 2014 as your best self

MM161213_bannerAs women, we all go through the very same setbacks (from niggling self-doubt to exercise ruts and relationship woes). That’s why we use the term sisterhood to describe our community, because essentially, that’s what we are. A group of like-minded women, banded together to support one another on our active journeys, no matter what life throws our way.

Much of the ammo you see in our Monday Motivation posts are things that everyday women struggle with, discussions with our friends and family or if we’re super honest… overheard conversations at the café down the street. Not too long ago we got talking about bad habitsdemotivation and choosing love over fear, but for this edition of Monday Motivation, we’re tackling another tricky topic.. New Year’s resolutions.

MM161213_quote_option_4The concept of NY resolutions has quite a stigma, but taking time for some one-on-one, stare yourself right in the face kind of planning might be just what you need. Entering a New Year can be a really cleansing, liberating time and is the ideal opportunity to write your thoughts, bad habits, goals – the whole lot down and make way for your best self in 2014.

When was the last time you sat down and wrote what was in your heart?

When was the last time you acknowledged your areas of weakness?

When was the last time you did something for yourself?

Avoidance is easy, but why not grab a pen and some paper? Take this time to sit in silence and scrawl to your heart’s desire.

Entering 2014 as your best self requires you to identify areas that you can polish and improve – we all have something we need to work on. The first steps to self-improvement are self-acknowledgement, paired with putting those plans into action & actually making things happen!!

Dream weaving & goal setting

You’ve seen them on your fave blog, read about them and at one point, toyed with the idea of making one. A mood board, vision board, or as we like to call it, a believe board is a visual representation of who we want to be, what we want to have and what sort of life we want to live.

If you’re a serial believe boarder and renew yours each month, you know why they are a must-do, especially for the New Year. The purpose behind a believe board is to amp up those mysterious laws of attraction and materialise your ideas into something a little more tangible.

We encourage you to try it out. If you need a dose of inspiration, we’ve posted a how to guide here. You can always go digital and create your own believe board on Pinterest. Make sure you put it somewhere visual, that way you’re reminded each and every day of your newly woven dreams.

“I’m unhappy with my job, but I’m going to stick it out for another year.”

“I’ve falling off the bandwagon with my exercise routine!”

Have these words ever crossed your lips? Not putting your happiness first is one of the worst things you can do for your spirit. Starting out fresh, the New Year is the perfect time to realign and reposition your way of thinking. When we do things out of love, life gets that little bit easier.

When you work hard on your self-love muscle, keep up your daily gratitude and nourish your body with the utmost love, it really helps to put things into perspective. Treating every nook and cranny of your life with love or making time for the things that make your soul soar is a sure-fire way to make some serious progress.

Don’t put off what it is you truly want. It’s NEVER to late to do what matters and start LIVING. Today is the day — YOUR day to start making it happen, to get back on track or to choose a new track entirely!

Let’s talk. What are some things you’re going to put to work to be your best self in 2014?
