I’m the first to admit that it’s next to impossible to feel good every second of every day. We’re only human after all, and emotions can sometimes get the better of us, leaving us feeling more matte than marvellous. For the most part, those things are out of our control. Work stress. Breakups. Family problems. A really expensive car service. Whatever hardship is going on in your life, we all need little ways to dig ourselves out! But how do you reign in that control to get back to feeling good again? Or simply, feel good for the first time in a long time?
Here’s my hit list of 5 feel-good fixes for the ultimate fun.
BAKE A PIE
To quote Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve stared at the bottom of my empty plate to say –
‘Oh my god. Somebody ate my entire pie!’
Apple pie. Veggie pie. Cheese & spinach pie. Sweet or savoury, whatever kind of pie you like the most – bake it! Mix it all together, pop it in the oven and then channel your inner Drew for supreme pie comfort. Pie not?!
MAKE A SUMMER PLAYLIST
You know those songs that feel like Summer? They have a certain vibe about them… The rhythm is upbeat and peppy with a special lightness – they make you feel free. I’m being totally serious, some songs actually sound like sunshine!

Have you become a little bit of a house hermit? Made BFF’s with your pillow lately? When things are going South, sometimes you need to head South yourself! Pack an overnight bag, grab that pie (or what’s left of it!), plug in your Summer songs playlist & invite your girl squad to take a drive into the open arms of mother nature. Sit on some sand, climb a mountain, take a few deep breaths and realise that there is still beauty in the world, you just have to take the time to notice it.
