The word ‘habit’ is often laced with negative connotations – swearing, biting your fingernails, chewing with your mouth full – but did you know that habits can be healthy too? From meal prepping to outfit planning, adopting a host of healthy habits is one of the easiest ways to embrace Active Living. So if you’re looking to adopt some healthy ones of your own, you’ve come to the right place, because we’ve uncovered 5 habits fit women live by…
Setting yourself a measurable goal is one thing, but if you don’t outline a plan or strategy, how do you expect to achieve it? Let me break it down for you. Say your goal is to be able to run a half marathon in 5 months – you’re not likely to cross the finish line if you show up on the day and just wing it, right? Start by setting yourself smaller goals like a 5km run, followed by a 10km run and build yourself up from there. Not is this a safe way to steadily see your fitness rise, but your confidence will start to grow too – and admit it, nothing makes you feel as proud as kicking a huge goal.
Some days the thought of vetoing a workout for a night on the couch is tempting, but fit women don’t give themselves an out (the couch will still be there after your workout). Excuses will never equal results, it’s a simple equation. That’s not to say you’re not deserving of a rest day from time to time (always listen to your body) but getting in the habit of making excuses is not a good road to travel down. If you want it bad enough, you’ll probably find that your excuses will fall to the wayside anyway.
At the end of the day, you are entirely up to you. Instead of seeking external gratification, fit women are driven by their strong and unwavering sense of self motivation. Whether it’s one more rep of dreaded burpees or a big work presentation you’re trying to power through, instead of seeking motivation from someone else, redirect it and really ask yourself why you started? Was it to get fitter? Was it to nail your presentation and prove that you’re deserving of that promotion you’ve been working towards? Staying self motivated is easy, as long as you find you ‘why’.
We all know that kale is good for our health, but chocolate… chocolate is good for the soul. Active Living is all about balance, and fit women know it! There’s nothing fun (or healthy for that matter) about deprivation, so eat that chocolate when your soul craves it and down that kale when your body needs it… allowing yourself to indulge in your favourite food from time to time is perfectly fine, so long as you do it without guilt, which as far as we’re concerned is much more detrimental to your health than some sneaky chocolate anyway.
Fit women know that there’s no better way to feel like a workout warrior than with a killer outfit. They pair style and function knowing it’s a sure-fire way to up their confidence and motivation to get the most out of every workout. When you rock activewear that makes you feel incredible, everything about you changes and there’s no limit to what you’re capable of achieving.
