DIY edible gifts for Christmas…

While this Christmas there’s no doubt we’ll all be gifting like crazy with new gadgets, work out wear and pretty new pieces… For those who you want to say “Happy Holidays” to your friends and family but aren’t quite sure how to say it, why not give the most thoughtful gift of all? Home made, delicious (and MNB approved) sweet treats! We all love a warming apple pie, so why not make a batch of our apple pie inspired granola! Made by hand, and presented with love…


Apple pie granola

Makes: 3 cups Preparation time: 5 mintues Cooking time: 25 minutes

You will need:

  • small jars with lids
  • muslin cloth or calico
  • ribbon
  • 3 cups oats
  • ¼ cup apple sauce
  • ¼ cup pecans
  • ¼ cup macadamias
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • ¼ cup nut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Pinch salt
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon

Let’s make it!

  1. Preheat oven to 180C/350F, line a large baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Spread out in an even layer and bake for 20 minutes. 
  3. Give it a stir and bake for another 5 minutes Leave to cool completely on tray and then put into an air tight container.
  4. Once the granola is cool, spoon into small jars and tighten lid. Cut out squares of muslin cloth or calico and place over the top of your jar (ensuring there is enough cloth to tie around) and wrap your ribbon around.
