Fear is the urge to devour a block of chocolate just to supress your emotions.
Fear is the excuse you text your friend when you skip your second workout with her this week.
Fear is the whispering voice that says you can’t sprint all the way up that steep hill in your suburb.
Love, on the other hand, is a whole different ball game. It energises, inspires and motivates you to be the best version of yourself. It’s the language of ‘I can’ and ‘I will’. This is the magical stuff we want to bottle up and share with all of our friends. The good news is, living a love-filled way of life is so simple. And when we do things out of love, our entire way of life changes for the better.
So, why our sudden interest in all things love and fear? Yesterday, team MNB blissed out at the Step It Up Live Tour, hosted by health coach Melissa Ambrosini and personal trainer Christian Miranda. Complete with a workout, yoga, meditation and journalling, the three-hour workshop passed by so quickly in conversation with the two wellness mentors.
In Mel’s bright and beautiful world, you only have two choices. In fact, her kind hearted approach to living is straightforward… You can either do things out of fear or do them out of love.
Start by setting an intention for your day:
You might want to improve your mood.
Boost your energy and enthusiasm.
Regain your confidence.
Or just be present in every moment.
Got it? Once you’ve thought about your intention for today, write it down in your journal or phone. Then, start making small, positive changes that align with your purpose. If you are faced with a fearful thought at any time during the day, refer back to your intention to slow down your racing mind and get back on track.
Need some inspiration to get you going? Mel was kind enough to share her daily routine with us. First up, she starts with 20 minutes of meditation in the morning. Whether it’s on the sand at the beach, or on her bed as soon as she wakes up – meditation is a non-negotiable. Throw in a yoga flow or two and she’s set for another delightful day of coaching and wellness blogging. She also finishes her day with another 20 minutes of meditation at night.
Oh and without fail, Mel makes time to write a list of things she’s grateful for. It might be three things or an extensive list – either way she sends it off to her friend each morning (who sends her a gratitude list right back). Now this is one tip we’ll have to try for ourselves!
So what will it be? Will you opt for love over fear this week?
