Today we’re going makeup-free as we embrace all things natural beauty.
It’s a scary notion isn’t it? Going barefaced and letting people see the real you. Freckles, blemishes and all.
We’ve dedicated Monday Motivation to getting on board with being an au naturel beauty. Why? Well, it’s Natural Beauty Week – an initiative that encourages consumers to become more aware of the health and environmental impacts of chemicals used in everyday cosmetics, and to be more discerning about their day-to-day beauty practices.
This means nourishing the largest organ in our bodies (yes, our skin) and reading up on the benefits of natural beauty so we’re okay with the vulnerability of a makeup free routine.
1. Go barefaced:
For many women, makeup is like an armour of protection. Feeling flat? Brush on some mascara. In need of a lift? Red lipstick swoops in and saves the day. It is something we subconsciously do, and when the time comes to be barefaced, we feel uncomfortable and out of sorts. Being comfortable in your own skin is so important, and braving a bareface is something that should make us feel empowered and free, not running in the other direction when we see someone we know in the street.
This week we want to try and make-under our makeup routine. Whether it be ditching your heavy cover up, to adopting an all-natural tinted moisturiser. Or sacrificing your favourite tint of blush for a week. Tune in with how you feel without it – you might just be surprised!
2. Do the switch
We are inspired to be a little more conscious of what products we are using on our skin. Since we spend so much time eating nourishing foods, the same should really apply to the products we are putting on our body. So, we’re limiting those chemicals and getting our DIY on. Who said coconut oil couldn’t be a daily moisturiser? We’re wholeheartedly embracing it. And how timely in the lead up to summer!
3. Believe in your beauty
4. Eating for beauty
Getting super glowy is our game plan this week. Think antioxidant rich smoothies, walnut crusted salmon and upping our avocado intake. Oh and water, lots of it. This shouldn’t be so hard huh?
5. Be a Beauty
“For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”

You see ― being a beauty isn’t just about how shiny your hair is, or how pearly white your teeth are. While we take the opportunity to clean out our bathroom cupboards and bodybrush our dead skin away, we’re also focusing on beauty in other areas of our life. It’s time to wash away any toxic relationships, or negative thoughts we may be holding onto.
Here’s to being a little more gracious, understanding and as we discussed in last week’s Monday Motivation, a little more mindful. There is always an opportunity to be a beautiful person.
This is our week to shine from the inside out, seek out our inner beauty and makeover any toxicity lurking about in our life. How will you embrace natural beauty?
