MNB: Hi there, welcome to our humble MNB! Tell us a little bit about yourself. What’s your story?
Hey MNBers, I’m Hayley! I’m on a heart-driven mission to inspire women to fall in love with their lives by loving themselves from the inside out.
I recently took a huge leap of faith, leaving a job in corporate brand management to become a health + life coach, author, speaker and positive role model to young women. I’ve learned first-hand that doing the work that lights you up (for me it’s the health and soul stuff) is where it’s at!
I also have an eco-wellness lifestyle blog, my online hangout, where I share my thoughts and perspective on living the most healthy, happy and whole life.
MNB: Where are you & what are you doing right now?
Right now, as I write, I’m in Manly (Sydney, Australia), sprawled out on a towel and the grass with a big, cold bottle of green juice. I’m multi-tasking: soaking up some vitamin D while ploughing through some writing work today. It’s pure magic!
MNB: Have you always been passionate about Active Living? What was the ‘uh ha’ moment for you…
No, not always! I played netball and waterpolo growing up, but active living wasn’t as deep-rooted in my lifestyle as it is now.
Now I’m a real wellness junkie with a whole lotta’ lessons to draw from and shared experiences to help my clients navigate their own way on the path to a healthy, balanced and active life.
MNB: What does a typical day of MNB’ing look like in your world?
An early morning MOVE and groove along Long Reef Beach is my absolute favourite way to kick-start each day. I also go to yoga twice a week (I’d go every day if my yoga teacher took more classes). Just recently I’ve been easing myself back into a couple of pump classes at the gym each week after falling off the bandwagon late last year. I also love to infuse movement in my social life. Going for a walk to catch up with a friend is an awesome way to ‘kill two birds with one stone’ as they say, and my friends and I are also loving SUP’ing (Stand Up Paddleboarding) at the moment!
I NOURISH my body with clean, organic food every day. I’ve done a lot of experimentation in the last year and found that I’m at my peak when I steer clear of wheat, dairy and processed foods and eat small amounts of meat.
BELIEVE. Woah, this little sparkler has rocked me to my core in the last 12 months. It’s been at the heart of my own journey through self-discovery and has been the key that has helped me break free and fall in love with my life. I’ve learned to choose love over fear in every decision and to wholeheartedly trust in my own potential. I’m so super-passionate about helping other women learn to believe in themselves too, and to fall in love with themselves and their lives.
MNB: Okay, so if you had to choose…what would be your top 3 ‘can’t live without’ foods of all time!
- Raw, organic chocolate: What girl doesn’t like chocolate, right?
- Kombucha: An ancient probiotic elixir. This drink is great for gut health and also happens to be utterly delicious. I’m slightly addicted to ginger kombucha!
- Baby spinach: I know it’s weird to choose a vegetable, but I can’t get enough of the greens! I see them as my internal scrubbing system so when I eat them, I know it’s doing me good.
MNB: What are some healthy snacks we could find stashed in your handbag?
If my handbag were big enough, there’d be mountains of food! Usually, I’ll have some veggie sticks and hommus, rice cakes with almond butter and always some raw chocolate on hand.
MNB: My everyday workout wear essentials are…
I LOVE gorgeous workout gear. I was gifted a few LJ pieces for Christmas, so I’ve got a pretty wide selection to choose from LJ. I love exercising at the beach, so usually a crop top and shorts. And if it’s yoga, my crazy floral LJ ¾ tights, which I totally adore.
MNB: I’m my happiest…
Usually outside. At the beach. In the sun. Walking. Wandering. Daydreaming.
MNB: The one thing I’m really trying hard to do right now is…
Write my e-book – released in a few months. Get ready for it to rock your healthy, spirited socks off.
MNB: Best advice you have ever been given?
Furthermore, I actually followed this advice. Best. Decision. Ever.
MNB: To unwind after a hard day’s work I like to…
Pause, take stock and meditate. There’s always a flurry of animated thoughts whirring through my mind so I’m really conscious of quietening them down for a while!
MNB: My biggest beauty indulgence in life is…
My food! I buy so much fresh organic food (and chocolate) because I believe that when you fuel your insides with the best quality foods, you shine even brighter on the outside.
MNB: I stay true to myself by…
Learning (always learning) to think for myself and to pave my own way through life. It’s so easy to chuff along following the path you think you should, simply because everyone else is. I want to challenge myself, be curious, brave and be a trailblazer in my own right.
MNB: My heart beats fast when… I’m faced with fear, excitement or confrontation. When I’m struck with a powerful sentence, or soak up the sight of some really exquisite design. When I see my boyfriend’s handsome mug and my pup Ruby’s itty-bitty eyes. Most of all when I’m hit with the realisation that every time the sun comes full circle, I get to bounce out of bed and live my dream life.
MNB: Any tips or advice you could give to our readers just starting on their healthy, active journey?
Take it slow, enjoy the whole ride and persevere. Be kind and gentle with yourself. Forget numbers and sizes and instead, be guided by how you’d like to feel. Don’t despair if you falter – every trip and stumble is another opportunity to learn. Another slice of experience to pull out and reflect upon when you’re faced with life’s next hurdle.
MNB: Any Move, Nourish or Believe tips before we part?
I saw this F. Scott Fitzgerald quote a while back and it really struck me. We hear the words true beauty comes from within all the time that the idea itself seems transient. However when you really learn to look deeper, you come to understand just how true those words are. I thought this quote really captured that, and makes you stop and think about it a little longer.
