We are so excited to showcase our second ‘A Day In The Life’ superstar/superwoman – Daniela Stevens. We launched this new segment a couple of weeks ago with the dynamic duo Sweat & Oranges, and when we were thinking of a super inspiring individual to follow, we thought of Daniela Stevens from Fitness Food and Style right away.
Dani is one special lady who outworks MNB into every day life, and is on a mission to inspire women around the world to do the same. When she’s not nurturing her family, she is inspiring you on her blog and Instagram through her exciting challenges, motivating posts and fun workouts. She is even in training for the 1,200km Grand Slam cycling tournament in August this year to raise funds for cancer.
So, let’s delve into A Day In The Life of this amazing woman who demonstrates that living your best, active life is not impossible, it’s attainable.
Hi Dani, welcome to MNB!
Hi, it’s so lovely to be given the opportunity to share my Move, Nourish and Believe journey. As a flat out mum of four little ones I am living proof of anybody being able to incorporate the MNB principles into their daily life.
Tell us a little about yourself?
- Name: Daniela Stevens
- Age: 39
- Occupation: Rockstar SAHM (stay at home mum) to 4 kids
I am a busy Mum of 4 babes all under 7 years, I’m happily married and totally in love with life; so much so that I share snippets of my action packed days across the globe via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and my blog.
It has become my goal to show people that if I can make time to prepare nutritious meals, exercise regularly and maintain a sense of style, all without breaking the bank than ANYONE can!! I know that I’ve found my purpose, and that it is to help others on their MNB journeys! Don’t get me wrong, I get frazzled days. Like, REALLY bad frazzled days, but you know what? I’ve recognised the only thing to do is to keep going! You are the one who makes all the difference and can change your days, even when things don’t quite pan out the way they planned. There are no limits – EVER!
I L.O.V.E my food and cooking and this can be seen in my meal and recipe posts where I feature simple, fresh and delicious ingredients, all are family friendly and can be easily prepared by anyone. I typically make our meals from the seasonal fruit and vegetables we buy and I either browse google for recipe inspiration, or over the years I have just learnt to combine certain flavours and spices to create my own creations. I try to make meals that can be cooked and served on the table within a 15-30 min timeframe, as things get a bit chaotic in our kitchen around dinner time.
I also encourage readers to join me in monthly challenges and I’ve been overwhelmed by the participation. Each Tuesday I love presenting a Transformation post, showing the difference that people can make to their own lives with support and encouragement. That’s really the essence of my blog and why I love blogging.
What does active living mean to you?
We talk a lot about fitness and healthy living at home and the kids are always asking so many questions. As a family we love going for walks, bike rides etc.. and we play a lot of sport with the kids. The whole family loves participating in my monthly FF&S challenges and we are currently doing our Stand Up and Be Rawesome challenge (#standfullyraw!)
My husband and I work hard at finding a good work/life balance. He and I often take time to participate in our own fitness regime as he is training for his first 1/2 marathon and I am training for a 1,200km Grand Slam cycling tournament in August this year.
How do you live your best life?
My best life extends beyond what I eat and how I train. I am constantly on the move and take this energy everywhere I go! I always try and push myself to do a little bit more and a little bit better.
This for me requires a solid nutritional foundation and I can’t stress enough how important food is to our inner body and our soul. Without it we couldn’t grow and function. Our physical body doesn’t eat on its own. We have to earn our food, grow it or pay for it, prepare and then eat it. It’s been amazing learning new and different things through my food challenges and I’ve developed a greater respect for how food shapes our entire being.
SMILE ~ it’s the kiss of the soul. Always be kind to people, do the right things, love, forgive and give plenty of cuddles to your children, partner, and loved ones EVERY DAY. And then repeat even MORE throughout the day if you can.
I’m such a romantic, optimist and I truly believe LOVE is what makes the world go around! That is fundamentally why I want to be able to help people to move, nourish and believe.
How did you discover Move Nourish Believe?
The concept has always been something I’d been familiar with myself but I was thrilled when a beautiful friend of mine sent me the Lorna Jane book as a gift. Discovering a whole community of people motivated by the same principles has been inspirational. I continue to love the book as great bed time reading to recap my day and this amazing woman’s journey has taught me so much.
How do you fit in working out/eating healthy/believing in yourself? What’s your secret?
If I don’t fit the MNB principles into my busy lifestyle, then no one else will do it for me. So typically I will either do my workouts before my husband leaves for work or while one of our daughters is asleep. Otherwise I’ll get active down at the park with all of the kids after school.
Eating healthily is paramount in our household; we rarely have any junk food which makes better food choices easier, especially come snack time! The kids will just automatically grab an apple to snack on or we make a green smoothie, etc…
PREPARATION IS KEY!
I am a true believer of having a great support network system. This is one of the reasons I am able to achieve everything that I do on a regular basis and, trust me, I am truly grateful to have so many people by my side who also embrace this MNB attitude.
PS: My secret ingredient is sleep. Sleep and then more SLEEP! I don’t get enough of it but it’s still my secret weapon wink
Any advice to the women out there who are just starting out on their active journey?
Some people are all or nothing, others can do things cold turkey but for others, like me, it takes time and making that first, baby step is what’s important.
I want to be here for anyone who needs to slowly transform their healthy lives because it’s all about progress not perfection. Preparation and consistency are the keys. It’s about balance. You don’t want to shock your body too much and go back to your old habits. No one ever likes being on those yo-yo diets, that’s why this healthy lifestyle is the ultimate diet to be on!!!
Change one thing that you are not happy with and make that your focus. If it’s your legs that need toning, start incorporating a pedometer and walk 10,000 steps per day. Just move. Eat healthy foods by eliminating the processed stuff. If you love your lemonade, buy Mineral Water and add freshly squeezed lemon to it with a drizzle of honey. Eliminating little things that in turn will make a BIG difference in your life.
It takes time but you and your body will feel so much better and happier too!
