Meet Your Trainer – Elena (Bella Be Active)

 

Each month on the Active Living Program we feature amazing Cardio, Strength and Stretch Trainers.

Here on MNB’s ‘Meet Your Trainer’ series, we’ll introduce your trainers each month so you can get to know a little more about them. 

Introducing your Cardio Trainer for February … the amazing Elena of Bella Be Active!

 

How long have you been a trainer?

 

I have always lead a healthy active lifestyle training as a professional dancer for six years, then going onto doing my 200hr yoga teacher training two years ago.

 

What inspired you to become a trainer?

 

Four years ago I was living and working on a yacht where I had no access to a gym and very rarely land, and as you could imagine I had very little space to work with.  That’s when I discovered HIIT training as I could complete a full workout in very little space using just my own body weight. 

After living this lifestyle for four years I was inspired to share everything I had learnt!  I wanted people to know you don’t need a fancy gym membership and expensive workout equipment to be fit and active!  There really are no barriers, all you need is a bit of imagination, a park or your living room smile

 

What do you love most about what you do?

 

Being able to inspire other women to live an active healthy lifestyle.

 

What excites you most about the Active Living Program?

 

To be able to connect and help women from all over the world!  Over the next 12 months there is something different for everyone to try whether that be yoga, strength work or HIIT.  I think it’s exciting that we can all come together and work as a team to be the best versions of ourselves.

 

Fun fact!

 

I lived and worked as a stewardess on a Super Yacht traveling the world for four years!

 

Favourite post workout snack!

 

I LOVE a good smoothie bowl!  My go-to at the moment is;

  • Handful of frozen blueberries
  • Handful of frozen strawberries
  • Handful of ice
  • 1 small banana
  • Dash of coconut water
  • Dash of soy milk
  • I scoop Acai powder
  • Blend and top with your favorite fruits (coconut is always a good topping) and enjoy!

 

Favourite workout tunes

 

I always love myself a bit of Drake!  He has the best beats and lyrics that ALWAYS pump me up!  I even like doing yoga to Drake when I do a home practice (try it!  It’s so much fun!)

 

Go to motivation (how do you stay motivated when times are tough)?

 

I feel being able to move, dance, bend, run, swim, jump is a blessing! If you spoke to anybody who’s blessing has been taking away from them, I promise you they would tell you they would do anything in a heart beat to be able to move there bodies they used to. 

So when I’m having an ‘off’ day or wake up and want to push the snooze button, I try to remind myself that being able to go for a run or walk or practice yoga it’s a gift smile

 

How do you move?

 

Every day! I love to run, dance, practice yoga, explore new beaches, climb mountains for sunset!  Moving my body makes me happy – it’s like my happy pill!

 

How do you Nourish?

 

By fueling my body with colourful foods.  Loads of fruits and vegetables, lean meats and fibre.  I also like to treat myself too (I have the world’s biggest sweet tooth). The trick is to not let it ruin or take over your whole day or whole week!  One treat every now and then can’t undo months of healthy eating and exercise.

 

How do you Believe?

 

Yoga is a beautiful way to help me believe.  It keeps me grounded and teaches me self-love, it also helps give me daily reminders to be grateful for everything I have rather than what I don’t have. 

I can be quite hard on myself at times, yoga has taught me to be more gentle and kinder to myself.  If I change my mindset and believe in myself more, anything is possible.
