Last week, the Beauty Chef schooled us on the ultimate smoothie to help us glow from the inside out and now we’re talking body scrub solutions. In this episode of the My Active Life series, Lorna Jane Clarkson gets messy in the kitchen with Carla Oates to discover the importance of caring for our largest organ – the skin. If you’ve been searching for an all natural body scrub solution, then this coffee scrub will be your saving grace.

Want the recipe? Read up on Carla’s natural body scrub recipe that will give you glowing skin, with ingredients you can find in the comfort of your own kitchen.

Chocolate and Coffee Sugar Body Scrub

Make your skin feel and smell like it is on holiday, while this body scrub does all the hard work. Body scrubs are really easy to make, they help smooth the skin and are also a great way to help kickstart the lymphatic system.

Coffee is renowned for its ability to help stimulate congested areas on the thighs and buttocks and cocoa is rich in skin protective anti-oxidants as well as magnesium which is helpful for rejuvenating skin tissue. Coconut oil will make your skin glow while also giving it a good dose of moisturising fatty acids plus lauric acid which is anti-bactertial and anti-fungal. Enjoy!

My Active Life: A Natural Body Scrub Recipe Good Enough To Eat!

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: Serves 2

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup of raw sugar
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil (unrefined)
  • 2-3 tbsp. cocoa (depending on how rich you'd like it)
  • 2 tbsp. ground coffee
How to make it:
  • Mix all the ingredients together well and store in an airtight jar. This should last up to a couple of months outside of the fridge.
  • To use, massage 2 tbsp. of mix onto wet skin on the buttocks and thighs.

Note: The oil will make the shower recess very slippery, so be careful. Please do a patch test on the inside of your arm to test for an adverse/allergic reaction, before applying to the face.

Isn’t natural skincare the best?! To get up to date with the My Active Life series you can get immersed in the archive, or for more nourishing know-how from The Beauty Chef herself, we think you’ll love this!

These sound so great, looking forward to making them on the weekend :) may I ask, what is citrus pectin and where can I get it from?

Made this and put into glass jars to give to girlfriends as an easter present. Instead of eating easters eggs they can smell like one!

Hi, I was just wondering if you can put the scrub on your face and if not, if carla would be kind enough to show us how to make one.
